Dr Victor Sim is the Head of Resiliency (Sustainability and Resiliency Office) at Surbana Jurong and takes deep interest in resiliency matters that cover the intertwined needs of social, economic and environment concerns that include, but is not limited to water, power, environmental, social and security matters. He is a trained sustainability reporting specialist in both GRI Standards and Strategic Community Investment.
Dr Sim is registered as an ASEAN Engineer, a Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia – Chemical and Environmental Engineering), and a Chartered Engineer (Singapore – Environmental and Water Engineering). He is able to extend his practice as a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ – Chemical, Environmental and Management), Australia. He is elected as a Council Member representing the Young Engineers Division in the Institution of Engineers, Singapore for the term, 2018-2020.
Dr Sim was awarded the sole winner of the 2018 inaugural global Young Engineer Award by the UN-recognized World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) for his project on an innovative reverse osmosis water treatment system to an under-privileged community in Hlaing Thar Yar, a large industrial city in Yangon, Myanmar. His contributions to the field of water and environmental sustainability have been recognized with the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2017, The Patron Prize 2013, Singapore-Netherlands Sustainability Award 2012, Green Talent 2011 (top 25 global young scientist in sustainable development), and the International Desalination Association Young Leader Award 2011.
